To motivate 700 salespeople to increase unit sales a 10 week series of mailings was delivered to each salesperson's home. Each mailing was accompanied by an appropriate promotional item. For example, copy on the flyer accompanying a magnifying glass letter opener read "Open your income opportunities, magnify your unit sales." All ten mailings were rubberstamped with the theme slogan, "Sell more units. Make more money. It all adds up." Salespeople who achieved the most unit sales by the end of the promotion won a government savings bond. As a result, sales of some of the featured unit items increased 100%.
