Whistles work
To promote safety a university distributed a two-color plastic whistle with a key chain and emergency instruction card. The card listed emergency phone numbers, the name of the school's sponsoring department, safety tips, instructions on what to do when using the whistle or when a whistle is heard, and additional phone numbers. The whistles were given to students when they picked up tuition bills, class schedules, housing assignments and other enrollment materials as well as to new employees at an orientation seminar.
